Jessica is tall, skinny anddark haired. She is out on a morning run, she runs everyday and really enjoys it. She know the path well, she passes a house that she knows and sometimes babysits the little girl called Freya. She runs past the house and hears calling for help from voices that she doesn't recognise, and she asks "Freya is that you?" As she runs to the house, she sees a ghostly figure disapear infront of her. Jessica pushes the door open and walks down the corridor, calling out for the girl she babysits. The light flickers and she sees a ghostly young girl inbetween the light, we also see the dark figure reflected in the dressing table mirror, we can only see its reflection. The girl tells her she is "too late" and we see more images incuding the two servant boys. Jessica screams and the audeince is left on a cliff hanger
Story Outline Theory
I can try and to use Propp's narrative roles in our thriller. I have tried to place these narrative roles, the problems I have occurred are finding it difficult to place my few characters into the roles. I our thriller I don't have a variety of different characters. Erin, playing the runner girl would be the protagonist, she is the main character and it is her quest. She is the one who is out on her run and is disrupted by children shouting for help, the makes her enter the building to see what is the matter, why the children are screaming. The main antagonist would be the dark pale faced figure that is only dressed head to toe in black, this figure is the antagonist because it is blocking Jessica from achieving her goals, her run. Another factor that makes the black figure the antagonist is the fact that it is trying to harm Jessica and stop her getting away. The children figures would also be antagonists, although they don't try to harm her they just stop her from achieving her quest. The children figures are helping to lure Jessica in, the children figures would be the helpers of the main antagonist.
Feminism is also used in our thriller, the girl out running is the main character, she is also female. Females watching our thriller will create more sympathy for the girl. Opposition and representation of gender. Erin, the runner is portrayed as weak ad vulnerable this is shown by being intimidated by the figure antagonists. However Erin is not to be shown as shy in our thriller, this is because she is brave enough to adventure into the open door of the house. She is to be shown as brave and powerful, this is shown to the audience by her brown hair. Erin is skinny and not butch. This is important to our thriller that she appears this was towards viewers. I have represented gender I have done this by sterotyping my female character. I will objectify Jessica by showing her legs constantly. In the industrial film industry women are also shown as vunlerable and weak. A young girl out running on her own is dangerous as she won't be helped if anything bad happens. The young girl is brave and fearless. This is shown by her confidence to enter the house. Even though Jessica is obejctified she is still a strong and brave woman.
In my thriller I also try using semiotics. The girl is out on her run, to most people they can be embarrassed when seen on their run. Jessica out running on her own shows she prefers the privacy whilst running. To be watched by the figures as she runs past the house, disrupts her because she is having her privacy taken away from her by being watched. During her run the girl is listening to music, while she has her music in she is in her own little world, her safe zone, when the music stops she is forced out of it.
